Maureen Denise McCormick is the daughter and youngest child of Richard McCormick. She was born August 5, 1956, on the outskirts of Woodland Hills California. Her father taught at school, as did her mother, who was a domestic worker. Her older brothers are: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick started singing and performing in the early years of her life. McCormick won her first contest, the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest when she was just 6 years old and was contacted through Pat Domigan, a talent agent from the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to work in the business of show production. McCormick was commissioned to perform in her first major part in 1964, in a tv commercial for Mattels latest doll Baby Pattaburp. Later that year she did another commercial for Mattels Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show Wind It up and It Breaks in the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick won a 1969 audition from 1,200 youngsters to be the oldest of the three twin daughters in The Brady Bunch TV series The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed together with Robert Reed. The run of five years for the show proved to be a huge success. McCormick's memoir Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was released in the year 2008. She revealed in it the fact that McCormick was close to losing her virginity while on stage of the show during the fifth season when it was played by Barry Williams. The actress was only 16 when she was in the scene and he was just 19. It could have been, she says. But, the time for our marriage was not the right one.
